The Wang Gang Goes To Work

For his September 2017 show, Alexander Wang made everyone haul their high heels to Brooklyn for a raging street party-cum-rave. Well, this season the Wang Gang girls have grown up and gone to work.

If Neo from The Matrix was the VC of a girl boss corporation, Alexander Wang’s CEO collection would be hires. The show was held in the old Conde Nast building at 4 Times Square. The woman he presented for Fall/Winter 2018 is powerful and is not going to fall victim to any predator, sexual or otherwise. She’s calculated, creative and in control.

Upon closer look at the collection, the designer is offering an aggressive return to 90’s accessories. Most notably the Matrix-esque sunglasses that we’ve seen shading the eyes of all the It Girls like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. And if you’ve got a mane that will take the powers of Neo himself to manage, Wang has you covered. All hail the banana clip. As we saw Eva Chen sport the coat on coat look last week, Wang’s CEO wasn’t shying away from a double banana clip. Tights were bedazzled and printed with the word “Girls”, a subtle yet strong nod to the designers' alignment with support of the current movement towards women speaking up, fighting for equal pay and creating their own dialogue against past wrongs.

This aesthetic is reminiscent of the commitment required of a gang. We all remember the Balmain army. The Wang CEO could easily range from running a Fortune 500 company to a woman trailblazing in STEM or creating a dating app which isn’t creepy but way more kind.

And for all the women who are working towards being a CEO but unable to commit to this reinvented power suit, you can take your career a step in the right direction with the CEO socks for £55.00 via the official site.
